1990: Decoy (BBC-2 3 Oct 1977, with Graham Crowden)

In Decoy prominent overseas dignitary Dr Sonderberg is visiting the country. Kyle, thanks to Faceless, discovers that Sonderberg is planning to recruit a whole PCD team to his home country – potentially to set up the same style government there.

Meanwhile a spiv style gangster called Sammy Calhoun has approached Brett and Kyle to see if they can co-ordinate the PCD team’s safe passage out of the country.

Kyle is concerned that Sonderberg may well be working for the PCD and the whole thing could be a trap. He’s right Sonderberg does want the team out of the country but Lomas’s main rival at the PCD, Henry Tasker, has set them up. Kyle and Brett manage to turn the tables and get the PCD team out the country. It’s a win-win for the resistance as not only have they got one over on the PCD they’ve also managed to get rid of a whole PCD team too!

Technical expert Carr was played by George Mallaby, an actor well known to Australian TV viewers.

Graham Crowden plays Sonderberg, complete with undefined transatlantic-ish accent, and steals the episode as he was want to do with his TV appearances. George Mallaby who plays technical expert Carr, was quite a well known name on Australian TV at the time (although he was English by birth and moved to Australia at the age of 16), in the late seventies he was dividing his time between the UK and Australia. Victor Maddern, another those very familiar faces of the sixties and seventies, does well with his role as the without scruples Calhoun.
