While accompanying the Vice President on Air Force Two to a college in Nevada, Whitaker discusses the situation in Israel and Gaza in the wake of the Hamas terror attack and hears her advocate for the Biden administration’s policy agenda on key domestic issues like gun violence prevention and immigration. A QUIET INVASION – Georgia applied to join the European Union just days after Russia invaded Ukraine out of concern that it would be Vladimir Putin’s next target. In Tbilisi, correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi met with Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili to discuss the country’s upcoming EU membership application, the presence of Russian troops inside Georgia’s borders, the recent influx of Russian residents, and the influence of Kremlin-influenced politics and propaganda. THE AIR WE BREATHE –With a new strain of COVID-19 on the rise and flu season just getting started, Dr. Jon LaPook highlights how building owners are adopting new workplace air and ventilation systems to help contain contagious respiratory viruses in light of lessons learned from the pandemic about the quality of indoor air. THE STATE OF THE BLUES – Jon Wertheim reports from Clarksdale, Mississippi, the birthplace of the Delta blues and home to musicians who have kept the blues alive for generations. Clarksdale has experienced something of a renaissance in recent years, as the city has been rediscover by both new audiences and young blues musicians. Wertheim meets Clarksdale native and heir to a long line of Delta blues greats Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, with a special appearance by actor and local blues club owner b>Morgan Freeman/b>. 60 Minutes has been on the air since 1968, beginning on a Tuesday, but spending most of its time on Sundays, where it remains today. This popular news magazine provides both hard hitting investigations, interviews and features, along with people in the news and current events. 60 Minutes has set unprecedented records in the Nielsen’s ratings with a number 1 rating, five times, making it among the most successful TV programs in all of television history. This series has won more Emmy awards than any other news program and in 2003, Don Hewitt, the creator (back in 1968), was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Emmy, along with the 60 Minute correspondents. Added to the 11 Peabody awards, this phenomenally long-lived series has collected 78 awards up to the 2005 season and remains among the viewers top choice for news magazine features.
