Popular ITV show Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh returns Sunday 5 May on ITV1 for another instalment, this time with a host of stars joining the nation’s favourite gardener.
The show welcomes West End star Charlie Stemp, who rose to fame for his leading role as Arthur Kipps in the musical Half a Sixpence. Stemp’s performance garnered him a WhatsOnStage Award for Best Actor in a Musical and a nomination for the 2017 Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.
Since then, Stemp has gone on to perform in Wicked, Mamma Mia!, and Mary Poppins, where he played the role of Bert. He also made his Broadway debut in 2018, starring in Hello, Dolly! alongside Bette Midler and Bernadette Peters.
Joining Stemp is actress, writer, and filmmaker Carol Drinkwater, best known for her role as Helen Herriot in the BBC series All Creatures Great and Small. Drinkwater received the Variety Club Television Personality of the Year award in 1985 for her performance.
Drinkwater has also appeared in numerous television series and films, including Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange, Queen Kong, and An Awfully Big Adventure, alongside Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman. In addition to her acting career, Drinkwater is an accomplished novelist, achieving bestselling status with her memoirs about life on an olive farm in Provence.
Rounding up the guests is actress Adjoa Andoh, known for her roles in Netflix’s Bridgerton, where she plays Lady Danbury, and Doctor Who, where she appeared as Francine Jones. Andoh has also had a successful career in theatre, playing lead roles with the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, and the Almeida Theatre.
In addition to her acting career, Andoh has narrated over 150 audiobooks and has been a BBC radio actor for over 30 years. She was also appointed as the Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre at the University of Oxford in 2023.
The episode also features Camilla Bassett-Smith, who will be offering advice on asparagus and hanging baskets. There will also be a visit from five talented and heroic service dogs, and wine expert Tom Surgey will be presenting pudding-inspired drinks.
