In Hostages the business relationship between the Sikhs and the villagers is developing nicely until a group of bandits attack the village intent on making the inhabitant give them food and supplies. To make sure the villagers do what they want they take the children of the village as hostage and kill Mr Barnard.

Nicky discovers that the bandits also plan to take the Sikh children hostage too but the Sikh’s decide to stage a dawn raid, rout the bandits and rescue the children. It’s a tense battle that eventually leaves the bandits mostly dead and two victims on the Sikh side.
