Sweeter Than Chocolate airs a new episode tonight Saturday February 4 2023 on Hallmark.
“Sweeter Than Chocolate,” starring Eloise Mumford (“Fifty Shades of Grey,” “The Baker’s Son”), Dan Jeannotte (“The Bold Type,” “The Royal Nanny,” and “Desperate Housewives” Brenda Strong, premieres on Hallmark Channel this Saturday, February 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT as part of the network’s annual Loveuary® programming event.
The film is adapted from Lizzie Shane’s novel of the same name. This is Hallmark Channel’s fourth original movie based on a book published by Hallmark Publishing.
Since word spread that partaking of one of Lucy Sweet’s (Mumford) special Cupid chocolates on February 14th guarantees one will find true love, Sweet’s chocolate business has become a magnet for those in search of a romantic Valentine’s Day treat. Dean Chase (Jeannotte), a local TV reporter, is fascinated by this urban legend and is committed to disproving it.
Lucy doesn’t want her business to suffer, but she agrees to help the detective out by talking to the couples who say they found love after trying one of Lucy’s sweets. Dean learns more about Lucy as he does interview after interview with different couples. Lucy and Dean both have experienced heartbreak, but Lucy still has trust in love’s healing ability while Dean has given up on it.
As Dean spends more time with Lucy, he begins to question whether or not his preconceived notions about love are correct.
After hearing about the story’s progress, Dean’s supervisor demands that he broadcast live from the chocolate shop on Valentine’s Day while sampling one of the legendary Cupid chocolates.
The truth behind Lucy’s shop is gaining more and more attention. In the meantime, one of Lucy’s couples experiences a tragedy that makes Lucy wonder if maybe Dean was right after all.
Is her naive belief truly fooling everyone? Dean saves the day just as the chocolatier is about to throw in the towel and give up, persuading her that spreading more love into the world is worthwhile, despite the possibility of experiencing some heartbreak along the way.
“Sweeter Than Chocolate” is a Hallmark Media Production. Kristofer McNeeley is executive producer, along with producer Charles Cooper. David Weaver directed from a story written by Kim Beyer-Johnson and Tracy Andreen, based on the book of the same name by Lizzie Shane.
