GPs: Treating Rural Britain Series Premiere, 25 April 2024, More4
The brand-new series GPs: Treating Rural Britain offers viewers an intimate insight into the lives of rural GPs across the UK. From the picturesque hills of the English countryside to the tranquil shores of Scottish lochs, the series showcases the unique challenges and cases faced by doctors in remote locations.
In the series premiere, airing on More4 on Thursday 25 April, viewers are introduced to several dedicated rural GPs and the diverse range of patients they treat. Dr Andy responds to an emergency on Scotland’s southwest coast, tending to a semi-conscious patient who requires airlifting to hospital. Meanwhile, Dr Sinead examines a five-year-old boy with persistent nosebleeds, a concerning symptom that requires prompt attention.
The episode also follows Dr Julie, who takes a mobile medical van into the heart of the Lake District community. Dr Julie encounters a patient with a condition affecting their hands, requiring her expertise and care. Additionally, she sees a patient who is struggling with the demands of being a full-time carer for his wife, highlighting the challenges faced by many in rural areas with limited access to healthcare services.
On the stunning Cornish coast, Dr Bruce treats a patient with possible Bell’s palsy, a condition affecting facial muscles. Additionally, Dr Bruce is faced with a medical mystery, treating a patient whose hands remain persistently cold despite their otherwise good health.
GPs: Treating Rural Britain Premieres on More4 at 9:00 pm on Thursday 25 April 2024.
