The Great British Sewing Bee: Episode 3 airs Wednesday 7 June 2023 on BBC One
The ten remaining sewers throw a west African clothing party. Nigerian fashion designer Banke Kuku joins Sara Pascoe, Patrick Grant, and Esme Young as a judge. As with a traditional Ghanaian batakari or fugu tunic, the Pattern Challenge begins with the assembly of narrow strips of handwoven deboya fabric.
Nigeria is a key target for the sewers in the Transformation Challenge. They have 90 minutes to make stunning dresses out of beautiful hand-dyed adire fabric by draping the fabric on the stand.
Finally, the tailors create boubous, a dramatic and flowing wide-sleeved robe worn by men and women throughout west Africa, for the Made-to-Measure round. Who will create an item that wins Garment of the Week and impresses all three judges, and who will be the third sewer eliminated?
Season 9 Episode 3
Amateur sewers take on challenges as they compete to be named Britain’s best home sewer.
