HBO Announce GOT Prequel “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight”
“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” is an upcoming HBO series based on George R.R. Martin’s “Dunk and Egg” novellas, set in the world of his “”A Song of Ice and Fire” novels. The show will serve as a prequel to “Game of Thrones,” exploring the adventures of Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, a century before the events of the flagship series.
The series has received a straight-to-series order, with George R.R. Martin himself serving as a writer and executive producer. The show’s official logline teases a narrative set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon lingers. It promises great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits for the unlikely duo of Ser Duncan and Egg.
The show’s cast includes Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg. The series is co-executive produced by Ira Parker, who also worked on “House of the Dragon,” along with Ryan Condal and Vince Gerardis, who are veterans of the “Game of Thrones” franchise.
The first season of “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” will adapt the first novella, “The Hedge Knight,” published in 1998, with subsequent seasons expected to follow the other novellas in the series. The show is currently scheduled to premiere in late 2025, with production set to begin in June 2024.
With its rich source material and the involvement of George R.R. Martin, “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight” has the potential to capture the imagination of “Game of Thrones” fans worldwide, offering a fresh perspective on the beloved fantasy world of Westeros.
