Hold the Front Page, 25 April 2024, Sky Max, “The Isle of Wight County Press”
Comedians Josh Widdicombe and Nish Kumar are back for a second series of Hold the Front Page, this time heading to the Isle of Wight to work with the Isle of Wight County Press during Cowes Week, the busiest weekend of the year.
The show, premiering on Sky Max on Thursday 25 April, sees the pair embark on an investigative journey across Britain, looking into local mysteries, taking part in unusual events, and covering the latest issues. In the first episode, Widdicombe and Kumar join the County Press co-editors, Lori Little and Lucy Morgan, who have been in their roles for just five weeks. The comedians will be reporting on the action-packed Cowes Week, which includes up to 40 sailing races a day, attracting around 500 boats and 2,500 competitors, from Olympic professionals to weekend sailors.
Widdicombe and Kumar will be let loose as journalists across the Isle of Wight, from Ryde to Yarmouth and Cowes to Niton. They will be navigating the challenges of reporting on a busy event, competing with other journalists to land their stories on the front page. Widdicombe will be put to the test as he goes to a carnival and attempts to report live on Facebook for the County Press, facing the challenge of approaching drunk people and trying to engage them in conversation. Meanwhile, Kumar finds himself at the National Poo Museum, where he is asked if he would like to make a deposit.
The pair will also be meeting Princess Anne and Anneka Rice, encountering nudists, visiting a poo museum, and getting lost at sea during one of the world’s biggest sailing races.
Hold the Front Page airs on Sky Max at 9.00 pm on Thursday 25 April 2024.
