Insight, SBS’s beloved discussion show known for its powerful first-person stories, along with the award-winning international documentary series Dateline, will be returning to Australian screens on Tuesday 5 March at 8:30pm AEDT.
Insight aims to engage in nuanced conversations around taboo topics while Dateline focuses on captivating international issues and events. Both shows provide viewers with new insights into key issues across Australia and the world.
In the upcoming season, Insight will fearlessly tackle contentious subjects facing Australians today. Viewers can expect episodes that explore Australia’s current baby drought, shed light on trailblazing boomers who have driven bold social change, delve into the powerful hold of guilt and how it can be harnessed for good, examine the phenomenon of super fans and its potential consequences when taken too far, among many other intriguing topics.
Additionally, Insight will be launching a brand-new podcast titled “Insightful” hosted by Kumi Taguchi. The podcast will feature popular guests who have previously appeared on Insight discussing their intriguing backstories. The first season of Insightful will consist of eight unique episodes released weekly every Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Dateline will continue in its established timeslot at 9:30pm and celebrate its historic 40th year on air in 2024. The upcoming season promises to expand our understanding of global issues through fascinating characters and daring stories from various countries such as Venezuela, Romania, Syria, Netherlands, Germany, and the U.S.
To kick off the new season of Dateline, Australian performer Jodee Mundy travels to Pennsylvania to join an Asian-American Coda camp for Deaf parents and their children. This immersive experience explores multiple layers of identity as pre-teens connect with their Deaf parents through sign language and Asian family-values.
Mandi Wicks, SBS Director of News and Current Affairs expressed her excitement about the lineup: “SBS’s current affairs line-up is renowned for reflecting diverse, multi-faceted issues that impact all Australians… Insight creates a safe space for discussing taboo topics in a respectful and inclusive way. We are thrilled to be launching Insightful: The Podcast, diving deeper into some of the most extraordinary and surprising first-person stories. Dateline continues to explore and reflect the issues and events of our time as we all seek to understand and navigate an increasingly complex world.”
