Chris Lang’s New Thriller “I, Jack Wright” Headed to Alibi
Alibi, the specialist crime drama channel owned by UKTV, has announced a new six-part series titled I, Jack Wright. The show, written by Chris Lang and produced by Federation Stories, features an impressive cast including Nikki Amuka-Bird as Sally Wright, John Simm as Gray Wright, and Gemma Jones as Rose Wright.
At the center of the narrative is Jack Wright, a prominent and accomplished entrepreneur whose shocking suicide leaves his family reeling. The unveiling of Jack’s will comes as a jarring revelation for Sally and her two sons, Gray and John, as they are confronted with the realization that they have been largely excluded from Jack’s considerable wealth. As DCI Morgan and DC Jones delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Jack’s demise, they stumble upon compelling evidence hinting at possible foul play.
As the Wright family grapples with escalating tensions, long-held secrets and deep-seated resentments bubble to the surface, resulting in explosive consequences. With each member growing increasingly reckless and desperate, their pursuit of a share in Jack’s legacy reaches a fever pitch. The fierce competition for their place in his inheritance drives them to extreme measures and unforeseen actions.
Writer Chris Lang expressed his excitement about the upcoming series: “Wills are extraordinary documents… They can be used to punish, reveal buried secrets, disinherit loved ones – or affirm love and make dreams come true… The will of Jack Wright is no exception – so buckle up, it’s going to be quite a ride!”
I, Jack Wright promises to be a propulsive murder mystery family drama that combines dark comedy with emotional depth. It explores themes of treachery and hidden agendas within one fractured family.
Hilary Rosen, Director of Commissioning at UKTV commended Lang for delivering a gripping story: “I am thrilled to be working with Chris… on this fresh, modern and dark family drama… It’s an absolute page turner that’s told in a highly original way.”
Set to air in 2025 on Alibi – which has become known for its high-quality crime dramas – I,Jack Wright joins the lineup alongside another upcoming UKTV Original drama, The Red King, produced by Quay Street Productions and scheduled to air later this year. With these additions to its roster, Alibi continues to offer audiences compelling and engaging content within the crime genre.
