In the third episode of Channel 4’s “Our Welsh Chapel Dream,” viewers follow Keith Brymer Jones and his partner, Marj, as they embark on a challenging and passionate project. The couple invests their entire savings into restoring a 160-year-old derelict chapel in the charming town of Pwllheli, located on Wales’s picturesque Llyn Peninsula. Keith, known for his role as a judge on The Great Pottery Throw Down, and Marj aim to transform this chapel into their dream home, complete with a working pottery studio, while also reviving its role as a community hub.
With permission granted, Keith and Marj dive into the heart of the project, starting their renovation in the main chapel hall. They remove the pews, parquet floor, and large pulpit, marking a significant step in their journey to create a liveable space. Keith’s passion for pottery takes him on a visit to a fellow potter, while Marj makes an intriguing discovery while exploring the Sunday school ceiling vents, which were once infested with pigeons.
As Keith and Marj continue to pour their heart and soul into this restoration, they aim to honor the chapel’s rich history while creating a space that reflects their personalities and love for pottery. This episode captures the challenges and rewards of taking on such a monumental task, offering a unique insight into the world of historic building restoration.
