The true-crime series Sin City Murders returns with its season finale, “Death in a Casino Stairwell,” on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at 7:00 pm on Oxygen. The episode revisits a chilling homicide case from 1997, focusing on the death of expert poker player Donald Idiens, whose body was found in a stairwell at the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino.

The investigation centres on a mysterious phone call and hours of surveillance footage, with hotel staff playing a pivotal role in helping police crack the case. Through the footage, retired assistant director of security Paul Shubert sees Idiens enter the hotel and go to the main elevator bank. This marks the last time Idiens is seen alive, as he walks through the front doors after a brief visit to The Mirage less than 10 minutes earlier.

The discovery of Idiens’s body in a stairwell suggests a murder in a guest room, but with no blood at the scene and Idiens not being a registered guest, identifying the room proves challenging. With numerous floors and rooms, the task is akin to finding a needle in a haystack. The breakthrough comes when detectives find the right room, leading them to the killer.

The series, hosted by Scott Fishman, delves into tragic homicide cases in Las Vegas, showcasing how detectives track down killers. Each episode brings first-hand accounts from those directly involved in the investigations and families who have endured unimaginable trauma.

The Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino, now known as The Linq, was an Asian-themed hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. Operating from 1979 to 2011, it was owned by Harrah’s Entertainment, later renamed Caesars Entertainment. The hotel featured over 2,000 rooms, a large pagoda, a pool area with a waterfall and spa, a race and sports book, a nightclub, and a fitness centre.
