The episode explores the complexities of the Count’s circumstances as he navigates life under house arrest in Moscow’s grand Hotel Metropol during the tumultuous years of the Soviet regime. With his aristocratic privileges stripped away, the Count discovers the true value of human connection, courage, and community.

One of the Count’s closest friends, Mishka, visits him at the hotel. Mishka, played by Fehinti Balogun, is a gifted poet and supporter of the Bolshevik Party. Their friendship dates back to their university days, and Mishka’s radical political views often clash with the Count’s aristocratic background.
