Uncensored, April 21, 2024, TV One, “Raz B”
The upcoming episode of TV One’s Uncensored features singer and former teen heartthrob Raz B, who gained fame as a member of the platinum-selling boy band B2K. In this episode, Raz B reflects on his journey to stardom, his struggles within the music industry, and his efforts to bring the group back together.
Born De’Mario Monte Thornton, Raz B was one of the founding members of B2K, which formed in 1998 and rose to fame with their self-titled debut album, reaching #2 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The group consisted of Lil’ Fizz, J-Boog, Raz B, and lead singer Omarion, captivating millions of fans with their music and performances. However, in 2004, B2K abruptly disbanded, breaking the hearts of their devoted followers.
In the Uncensored episode, Raz B reveals the reasons behind the group’s unexpected split. He cites financial problems, family issues, and internal feuds within the band. According to Raz B, it was a combination of factors that led to their decision to part ways. At the peak of their success, the group faced challenges that became increasingly difficult to manage.
Raz B mentions the desire for more control over their careers as they matured and evolved as individual artists. He also points to the success of their 2003 movie You Got Served, which starred Omarion in a lead role, as a potential catalyst for the group’s dissolution. The other three members of B2K—Lil’ Fizz, J-Boog, and Raz B—signed with a different management company, separate from Omarion and their former manager, Chris Stokes.
Raz B also addresses the accusations he made against Stokes, alleging sexual abuse and financial mismanagement. While the other members of B2K denied these claims, Raz B stood by his accusations, refusing to be silenced. This created a divide within the group and likely contributed to their eventual breakup.
Uncensored, airing on TV One, offers viewers an intimate look into the lives of notable personalities, as they candidly share their stories, triumphs, and struggles. The show provides a platform for stars to share their truths and give viewers a deeper understanding of their favorite celebrities.
