Period action adventure series Adventurer was actually a sequel of sorts to Smuggler and featured further adventures of 19th century smuggler Jack Vincent. Despite being a UK show this was completely filmed on location in New Zealand.
Creator Richard Carpenter has a great pedigree for this kind of thing with shows such as Catweazle and Robin of Sherwood.
