Arthur And George (ITV 2015, Martin Clunes, Arsher Ali)

Period drama serial Arthur and George based on a true story which in turn became a novel by the Booker prize winning Julian Barnes. In 1903 ageing celebrated author Arthur Conan Doyle is a grumpy widower who manages to recapture a zest for life when he gets involved in what he believes is a serious miscarriage of justice.

Hearing about a case that has become known as “The Great Wyrley Rippings” that has seen a solicitor, George Edalji, languishing in prison accused of mutilating animals, Conan Doyle decides to help him clear his name.
