Curse Of Comedy, The (BBC-4 2008, Jason Isaacs, Trevor Eve)
The Curse of Comedy was made up of four individual feature length period dramas that focused on the personal lives of five very well known TV personalities from the 1960’s and 70’s.
The dramas focused on Tony Hancock, Harry H. Corbett and Wilfred Brambell (in particular focusing on Steptoe and Son), Frankie Howerd and Hughie Green. The quartet were all very well made but inevitably took a certain amount of poetic license with certain scenes. All the performances were superb.
The four dramas were
THE CURSE OF STEPTOE (Harry played by Jason Isaacs and Wilfred by Phil Davis)
HANCOCK AND JOAN (Tony played by Ken Stott and Joan by Maxine Peake)
FRANKIE HOWERD: Rather You Than Me (Frankie played by David Walliams)
HUGHIE GREEN MOST SINCERELY (Hughie played by Trevor Eve)
