L For Lester (BBC Sitcom, Brian Murphy)

Sitcom L For Lester detailed the exploits of Lester Small (Brian Murphy), a motoring school owner in the West Country. Most of the humour stemmed from Lester’s dealings with his customers especially Mrs Davies (Hilda Braid) his longest standing learner driver. Other regulars included Lester’s secretary Jenny (Linda Robson), his wife Sally (Amanda Barrie) and local cop Chief Inspector Rodgers (James Cossins). Lester and Rodgers were involved in something of a feud over what Lester saw as unfair treatment – it wasn’t his fault that his learners were a danger to the public!
