Margot (BBC-4 2009, Anne-Marie Duff, Lindsay Duncan)

The incredible story of legendary ballet dancer Margot Fonteyn is brought to vivid life in this drama.

With a brilliant central performance from Ann-Marie Duff and beginning when Margot is forty and is Britain’s first international ballet star, the drama is compelling look at the life of this woman as she nears the end of her performing career, despite having caused a sensation with her partnership with Rudolph Nureyev, and is clearly uncertain which way her life is now going to go. Margot is also pulled apart by the increasingly flagrant affairs of her husband – Panamanian diplomat Roberto de Arias (played by Con O’Neill) and seriously begins to consider retirement.
