Mr John Jorrocks (BBC Sitcom, Jimmy Edwards)

In this single season set in the 19th century BBC sitcom Mr John Jorrocks (Jimmy Edwards) a cockney greengrocer, becomes squire and Master of Foxhounds at Handley Cross, much to the distress of the locals. His wife Mrs Jorrocks was played by Angela Baddeley best known as Mrs Bridges in Upstairs Downstairs.

The culture clash character of John Jorrocks had been around since first appearing in New Sporting Magazine in 1831, he was a perfect fit for Jimmy Edwards. Also in 1966 there was a stage musical called Jorrocks which starred Joss Ackland and Thelma Ruby as Mr and Mrs Jorrocks.
