Rizzoli And Isles (TNT 2010-2016, Angie Harmon, Sasha Alexander)

Crime drama series Rizzoli and Isles follows the cases of tough Boston detective Jane Rizzoli and her polar opposite, medical examiner Maura Isles. Despite their difference the pair gel reallyt well and make a formidable team when it comes to crime solving.

Other regulars include Jane’s somewhat demanding mother Angel and Detective Barry Frost who is Jane’s naive partner. Meanwhile her former partner Detective Vince Korsak is not happy about the change in roles. The series was based on the popular book series by Tess Gerritsen.

There was off screen drama during the fourth season when Lee Thompson Young who played Rizzoli’s second partner Barold “Barry” Frost was found dead at his home, having shot and killed himself. Production on the series was shut down for a time. Season five saw his absence explained by his character having been killed in a car crash. He was replaced by crime scene analyst Nina Holiday who later ended up romantically involved with Rizzoli’s brother Frankie, also a cop.

Jacqueline Bisset made occasional appearances as Maura’s adoptive mother Constance Isles. Donnie Wahlburg also had a semi-regular role for a while as Lieutenant Joe Grant.
