Liar (ITV 2017, Joanne Froggatt, Ioan Gruffudd)

In six part crime thriller Liar, schoolteacher Laura Nielson (Froggatt) has just broken up with her long-term boyfriend Tom (Warren Brown), when she runs into the father of one of her pupils. There is an instant attraction between the two. Andrew Earlham (Gruffudd) is a handsome surgeon who has been recently widowed.

Andrew is immediately interested in Laura and asks her out. Laura has suspicions that her sister Katy (Zoe Tapper), who is also Andrew’s colleague, has been playing cupid but agrees to go on a date with Andrew. When they meet up, there is a powerful chemistry between them and they quickly build up a good rapport. The next day, a hollow-eyed Laura walks to her sister’s house where she reveals that something truly horrific happened with Andrew.
