Harry O: Mayday (ABC 23 Oct 1975, with Maggie Blye)

In Mayday an old Korean War colleague of Harry’s, Ward Nevin, is working as a pilot for Senator John Elton. On a routine flight his plane develops a fault and crashes, Nevins is killed and Elton is badly injured. Harry attends the funeral for Nevin and meets his wife Ellen, taking her home to avoid the press crush, they discover that her home has been ransacked.

Everybody is sure the burglary is coincidence but Harry investigates anyway and quickly learns that Senator Elton is not particularly well liked within the union industry and the crash might have been deliberate.

It’s a big plot that is handled excellently within the relatively small scale world of Harry.

There is a cute subplot involving the gorgeous Gina, she has a couple of days free and wants to spend them with Harry but everytime she calls upon him he is either in the middle of something or on his way somewhere.
