Filmed in the autumn of 2020, the series that follows patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George’s Hospital in south west London. This episode shows how quickly life can change in the event of a medical emergency. Seventy-year-old Jim is rushed to St George’s after he’s found struggling to breathe. His daughter Pauline shares the story of how her father overcame his long battle with alcohol to become the supportive and loving dad she could rely on.
Terry, who’s 77, has foot and knee pain after recently being discharged from hospital. At his side is his wife Lorraine. She shares how her childhood taught her the importance of being there for your partner in marriage and through the unexpected challenges that life throws at you.
And 38-year-old Savita and her five-year-old son Rylan are rushed to St George’s after being hit by a car. Savita’s husband Rayan shares memories of the life they built together, and talks about the sacrifices they made as a family while Savita was working as a nurse in intensive care during the pandemic.
