Jane Pauley of CBS News will take viewers inside some of New York City’s most luxurious mansions on a special “By Design” edition of CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING.

The “By Design” special will feature stories about the arts, culture, design, fashion, and more in addition to the spectacular homes.

David Pogue will examine how people in both large and small dwellings make do this Sunday on his show. Susan Spencer discusses the role of design in a restful night’s sleep in her report. To replace a missing fork or teacup, Nancy Giles travels to a massive warehouse.

Faith Salie investigates the development of lifts. Kelefa Sanneh goes to see the Tiffany store in New York after it was remodeled. Mark Whitaker covers the groundbreaking career of architect Paul Revere Williams. Magician David Copperfield is interviewed by Tracy Smith. And Martha shows off her rose garden to the world.

Additionally, Serena Altschul investigates Levi’s commemoration of 150 years of their iconic 501 jeans. Should shoes be worn inside the house or removed at the door, as Mo Rocca wonders? Seth Doane discovers Morocco’s secret gardens and plazas. Lucy Craft tells a tale about a traditional Japanese technique for transforming discarded or damaged objects into works of art. And Luke Burbank goes to a museum where tumbleweeds are repurposed as sculptures.

This year’s By Design episode of CBS NEWS SUNDAY MORNING follows in the footsteps of previous years’ by devoting its entirety to the topics of architecture and tourism. The show has previously broadcast from a variety of locales around the world, including the “El Fureidis” estate in Montecito, California; the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina; the Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California; the Breakers in Newport, Rhode Island; and various spots in Florence, Italy; London; and Amsterdam.
