Dark Water: The Murder of Shani Warren airs Wednesday 3 May 2023 on Channel 5.

In 1987, 26-year-old Shani Warren, later dubbed “the Lady in the Lake,” was discovered dead in Taplow Lake, Buckinghamshire, with her hands tied behind her back and her feet bound together.

Police were unable to identify a suspect after a lengthy investigation, leaving the family to suffer in silence for a long period of time. Then, in 2020, the awful truth was uncovered thanks to a forensic breakthrough by the Thames Valley Police cold case team.
