Edinburgh Special: Josie Long, a seasoned veteran of the Fringe, is back in Edinburgh with a quick-witted show that was influenced by the changes and difficulties in her life, such as becoming a second-time mother and moving from London to Glasgow during lockdown. Loop meets Josie as she gets ready to perform her thrilling show Re-Enchantment in the capital and discovers how her passion for Scotland has influenced her career.
As he gets ready to debut his autobiographical performance The Chosen Haram at the Fringe, Edinburgh-based circus performer Sadiq Ali shares his deeply moving personal story. Ali’s work, which tells a love story using Chinese pole and physical theatre, is inspired by his queer Muslim upbringing and his desire to change people’s perceptions of HIV positivity after receiving his own diagnosis.
Additionally, Loop meets the creators of the energetic Scottish-African choir Shona the Musical, based in Edinburgh, to learn how their rich harmonies, African drumming, joyful dancing, and vibrant costumes combine in a love story that crosses racial and cultural boundaries.
Spoken-word artist Lucy May performs her poem My Skin, which was written from the perspective of a woman reclaiming her skin, her choice of expression and her body.
