Sister Boniface Mysteries: The Star of the Orient UK Premiere on Drama
Drama will air the UK premiere of the Sister Boniface Mysteries: The Star of the Orient on Tuesday, 19 December at 8.00pm. The feature length Christmas special will see Lorna Watson reprise her role as Sister Boniface, a crime-solving Catholic nun who finds herself on a snowbound train at Christmas.
Loosely based on Murder on the Orient Express, the story follows Sister Boniface and Sam (played by Max Brown) as they are stranded on a train carriage in the snow. The theft of a cursed jewel and an impossible murder present a challenging mystery for the duo to unravel.
The plot unfolds as the pompous Sir Swinton Usher, played by Rupert Vansittart, agrees to let the other passengers join him in his private carriage when their train becomes stranded. The situation takes a turn as the lights go out, the safe is found empty, and the priceless cursed jewel, the Star of the Orient, is discovered to have been stolen. Additionally, the body of one of the passengers is found outside the train.
The mystery deepens as other characters, Felix (played by Jerry Iwu) and Peggy (played by Ami Metcalfe), face their own set of challenges, and Reverend Mother Adrian (played by Carolyn Pickles) stuns the nuns with the announcement that Christmas is cancelled.
