Songs of Praise: Exploring Christian Wellbeing (BBC One Sunday 14 May 2023)
Songs of Praise: Exploring Christian Wellbeing airs Sunday 14 May 2023 on BBC One
Sean Fletcher discusses Christian health and wellness in advance of Mental Health Awareness Week.
He meets a couple whose personal experience with mental illness prompted them to found an organisation based on kintsugi, the Japanese practise of repairing broken objects by glueing on new pieces of lacquer to cover cracks. Churches can receive instruction on how to become “mental health-friendly spaces” and how to facilitate community wellness groups through this organisation.
We also look back at the 2021 Chelsea Flower Show garden that was inspired by Psalm 23, and remember when Kate Bottley put on her running shoes to join a group of Christian runners concerned with their physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
Music from all over the UK that serves as a reminder that God is with us no matter what is featured on the programme, as well as a performance by last year’s BBC Young Chorister of the Year.
Season 2023 Episode 20
Songs of Praise is a BBC Television religious programme that presents Christian hymns which first aired in October 1961. The first edition was broadcast from the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cardiff, and the series is one of the longest-running of its kind on television anywhere in the world.
