The Big Interiors Battle: The Final airs Friday 9 June 2023 on Channel 4

It’s the grand finale, and both of our remaining designers have impressed Dara and beaten the other teams week after week. The pair must complete a monumental task as their final test. Dara thinks a hallway is one of the trickiest parts of a house to decorate because it has to serve multiple purposes while also making a good first impression.

She wants to see inventive solutions to these difficult problems, and is specifically interested in how the finalists’ makeovers reflect their personalities. One finalist plays it safe with their alterations, while the other makes significant changes in every room; with only three days to complete the challenge, have they taken on too much? The entrance spaces take shape in wildly different styles with bespoke joinery, hand-crafted installations, and ambitious decorative items.

The fates of the designers will be revealed in the dreaded lockout corridor once the challenge is over and the apartments have been sealed. After eight intense weeks of competition, the fate of the contestants rests on the colour of a light as they walk down the hall and insert their key cards. Who will get red and be locked out, and who will get green and enter their new £250,000 home?

AJ Odudu presents this contest in which eight up-and-coming interior designers battle it out to make over – and ultimately win – an apartment of their own, worth £250,000. Judge and award-winning architect Dara Huang pushes their creativity to the limit as they work on a different room in their apartment each week. At the end, if their keycard lights up green, they live to compete another week. If it’s red, their time in the competition is up.
