What is this episode about

The world’s attention was divided between two athletes at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer: New England’s elegant brunette Nancy Kerrigan and California’s fiery blonde Tonya Harding. At the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on January 6, 1994, just weeks before the Olympics, an unknown assailant clubbed Kerrigan on the right knee, leaving her in shock and begging, “Why, why, why?”

Harding’s ex-husband, Jeff Gillooly, had planned the attack with his oddball friends to literally eliminate Kerrigan from the competition, and the bizarre “why” mystery slowly unravelled as this was revealed.

Decades later, Harding is still being questioned about what she knew and when she knew it, but THE PRICE OF GOLD offers a fresh look at her tumultuous career and life through the lens of the spectacle that propelled the popularity of professional figure skating.
