A set of ice hockey skates and gloves that belonged to Adrian Wheeler’s father, who started playing the sport back in the 1950s, are being worked on by master cobbler Dean Westmoreland, metalworker Dominic Chinea, and leather expert Suzie Fletcher. His three children and now his granddaughter, Adrian’s daughter, all share his love of the game. Adrian plans to set up a display in his home with other memorabilia in honour of his father’s accomplishments on the ice and his ongoing support of the entire family. Dom attacks the rusted blades, Dean takes on the hardened, dry leather, and Suzie repairs the torn glove, giving it new colour.
Wendy Innes enters the barn after her. Jayesh Vaghela, a master hatter, needs to take care of her late father’s motorcycle helmet. Due to its cork lining, the helmet is referred to as a “corker” and was worn by Wendy’s parents on a remarkable journey around the globe. In 1956, the couple embarked on an epic journey together, and they returned a year later after travelling to 29 different countries on their motorcycle. They began their family once they got home. When cleaning out their attic, Wendy discovered the helmet and found that several mice had made a home inside, damaging the leather earpieces and sweat band. As a physical reminder of her dearly missed parents and their amazing journey, she would love to have it repaired.
Finally, James Stainer arrives at the door with Lummy, his childhood bear. He is hoping that Amanda and Julie, two bear ladies, will do their magic on the elderly man, who is essentially falling apart. 54 years ago, James’ godfather gave him Lummy, which quickly became his favourite toy. Even though he spent most of his time on his pillow and attended family vacations and cub camps, all those adventures and cuddle sessions have taken a toll. Thankfully, Lummy is now in capable hands.
