Avoidance Series 2 Premiere, 5 April 2024, BBC One
In the first episode of the second series of Avoidance, premiering on BBC One on Friday 5 April, Jonathan’s (Romesh Ranganathan) attempts to win back his ex-partner Claire (Jessica Knappett) are complicated by the arrival of her new love interest, Brett (Matthew Lewis). Jonathan, a conflict-averse and indecisive people-pleaser, finds himself in a tricky situation as he tries to reconcile with Claire while navigating his feelings of regret about their break-up.
Meanwhile, Jonathan’s sister, Dan (Mandeep Dhillon), and her wife, Courtney (Lisa McGrillis), are expecting a baby. They have very different approaches to the pregnancy, with Courtney in denial and refusing to prepare, while Dan has read extensively and is highly organised. The couple navigates the challenges of impending parenthood, feeling unprepared for the arrival of their baby boy.
The episode also introduces Megan (Aisling Bea), a potential new love interest for Jonathan, further complicating his relationship with Claire. With Jonathan determined to win back his ex, the stage is set for a love square filled with romance and complication.
The series, created by Ranganathan and Benjamin Green, who also directs, explores the themes of falling in love, messy reconciliation, and the challenges of parenthood. It follows the lives of Jonathan, a man with severe conflict avoidance issues, and his ex-partner, Claire, as they navigate their separation and its impact on their young son, Spencer (Kieran Logendra).
The Avoidance Series 2 Premiere airs on BBC One at 9:30 PM, Friday 5 April 2024.
