Daddy Issues: A Classic Odd Couple Comedy
A new six-part comedy series, “Daddy Issues,” is currently in production. The show, created by the team behind “White Gold” and “The Inbetweeners,” follows the story of Gemma, played by Aimee Lou Wood, who unexpectedly finds herself pregnant after a random hook-up during a holiday. With only her hapless father, Malcolm, played by David Morrissey, by her side for support, the two end up living together in Gemma’s flat.
The series is described as a classic odd couple comedy that revolves around the humorous and flawed relationship between a father and daughter. Gemma and Malcolm navigate through the challenges of dating, family dynamics, and unexpected pregnancies, all while dealing with their quirky personalities and dysfunctional living situation.
The show is written by Danielle Ward who said “I cannot wait for the world to meet Gemma and Malcolm, and I’m so grateful to the BBC for finally giving me my own series, 20 years after I lost the BBC New Comedy Awards. Aimee and David were my dream casting from the get-go and who ever gets their dream cast? It’s a total thrill to be working with such naturally funny and wildly talented actors.”
More details about the show, including full casting and scheduling, will be announced in the near future. “Daddy Issues” is a production of Fudge Park for BBC Three and BBC iPlayer, and is being handled by Fremantle for global distribution.
