The Chi Returns: Season 6 Part 2 – A Calm Before the Storm in Chicago
The official trailer for the second half of season six of The Chi has been released by Paramount+ with Showtime. The hit drama series will return on Friday, May 10, for streaming and on-demand for Paramount+ subscribers with the Paramount+ with Showtime plan, ahead of its on-air debut on Sunday, May 12, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
The trailer for Season 6 Part 2 reveals a sense of “calm before the storm” as the residents of Chicago’s South Side briefly find solace in their community before facing impending dangers.
The first half of Season 6 concluded in September 2023, with a two-part season structure due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Now, with production back on track, fans can look forward to the continuation of the story.
The upcoming episodes will pick up with the aftermath of Q’s murder and the shifting loyalties within Douda’s (Curtiss Cook) inner circle. This dynamic will particularly impact Emmett (Jacob Latimore) and his relationship with Kiesha (Birgundi Baker), as Kiesha warns Emmett that his lingering ties to Douda are “playing with fire.” Emmett, caught between his personal and business pursuits, finds himself in a precarious situation.
The trailer also teases Alicia’s (Lynn Whitfield) pursuit of revenge for her brother’s murder, indicating that she’s taking matters into her own hands after the failed attempt on Douda’s life by Rob (Iman Shumpert) and Emmett. Alicia’s confrontation with Douda is highlighted by her statement: “I never should have sent a boy to do a woman’s job.”
Elsewhere in the South Side community, Jake (Michael V. Epps) experiences business growth but encounters unforeseen consequences due to his ties with Douda. Victor (Luke James), now a city councilman, navigates the impact of his tangled past. Newlyweds Jada (Yolonda Ross) and Darnell (Rolando Boyce) find themselves in a dire situation as they fear for their son Emmett’s life-threatening decisions.
The Chi continues to explore the joys and complications of its characters’ lives, including relationships, careers, and personal struggles.
