The Spiderwick Chronicles, based on the children’s fantasy books by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black, arrives on Roku on Friday April 19, with its eight-episode first season. The series chronicles the adventures of the Grace family as they move from Brooklyn, New York, to their ancestral home, the Spiderwick Estate, in Henson, Michigan.
In the first episode, “Welcome to Spiderwick“, we’re introduced to Helen Grace and her children: 15-year-old fraternal twins Jared and Simon, and their older sister Mallory. As the family settles into their new surroundings, Jared makes a startling discovery—a boggart. This leads him to realize that magical creatures are real. However, his great-aunt Lucinda is the only one who believes him. She urges Jared to find the pages of her father’s field guide to magical creatures, which is known as “Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You” in the series, to protect them from the murderous ogre, Mulgarath.
The series stars Lyon Daniels as Jared Grace, Noah Cottrell as Simon Grace, Mychala Lee as Mallory Grace, and Joy Bryant as Helen Grace. Christian Slater joins the cast as the villainous ogre, Mulgarath, and Jack Dylan Grazer voices Thimbletack.
The Spiderwick Chronicles premieres on Roku on April 19, 2024, with new episodes available to stream every Friday.
