Norah O’Donnell, anchor and managing editor of the CBS Evening News, has secured an exclusive interview with Pope Francis in Rome. The conversation, which marks a first for an American television journalist, will air tonight (Wednesday) on CBS Evening News and will be followed by extended versions on 60 Minutes and a primetime special on CBS.
The interview, conducted ahead of the Vatican’s inaugural World Children’s Day, covers a range of topics, including the Pope’s reflections on the state of the world and his vision for the future.
O’Donnell’s interview with Pope Francis adds to her impressive body of work, which includes reporting on major news events, such as the 2012 Newtown massacre and the Boston Marathon bombing, as well as her investigative reports on sexual assaults in the military and at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
The extended versions of the interview will provide further insights and will go deeper into the topics discussed with the Pope. The 60 Minutes segment will air on May 19, followed by the primetime special on May 20. Additionally, CBS News and Stations will offer cross-platform coverage of the interview.
