WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures, April 21, 2024, A&E, “Dusty Rhodes”
WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures returns for its third season, taking viewers on a journey through WWE history as the search continues for beloved memorabilia and collectibles. In this episode, titled “Dusty Rhodes,” the focus is on reclaiming items belonging to the iconic superstar, affectionately known as “The American Dream.”
Rhodes, who began his career in the 1960s, was known for his blue-collar image, presenting himself as the “common man” or the “American everyman”. Despite lacking the typical wrestler’s physique, he exuded charm and possessed a gift for captivating audiences with his microphone skills. His rags-to-riches story, coupled with his working-class hero persona, resonated deeply with fans.
Rhodes’ in-ring career spanned multiple decades and promotions, including the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), World Championship Wrestling (WCW), and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, later WWE). He is a three-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion and held numerous other championships during his illustrious career. One of his most famous rivalries was with the legendary Four Horsemen, particularly Ric Flair and Tully Blanchard.
Beyond the ring, Rhodes played a significant role behind the scenes. He was a creative force, credited with inventing many WCW pay-per-view concepts and match types, such as the War Games. Rhodes also served as a booker and trainer, helping shape the careers of many wrestlers. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007, recognising his extraordinary contributions to the world of professional wrestling.
In this episode, WWE Superstars Booker T and Cody Rhodes, Dusty’s son, along with Lita and Mick Foley, embark on a quest to reclaim and preserve items that were integral to Dusty Rhodes’ career and legacy. They seek his signature polka dot gear, custom cowboy boots, and his booking journals, which hold the secrets to his creative genius.
WWE’s Most Wanted Treasures airs on A&E at 9.00 pm on Sunday, April 21, 2024.
