Period drama series The Flashing Blade told tales of derring do with hero of the story Francois de Recci and his sword The Flashing Blade of the title getting involved in all manner of adventures such as fighting the Spanish, bandits and the like but still finding time for a bit of romance.
The first episode was transmitted in the UK on 31 March 1969 and became a staple of children’s right through to the mid 1980s.
