Sky’s The Limit, The (ITV 1970-1974, Hughie Green, Monica Rose)
Travel based quiz show hosted by Hughie Green, The Sky’s The Limit was something of a staple for a few years in the early 1970’s.
The questions were specialist subject style and Hughie, as Flight Controller, offered up prizes made up of air miles (a maximum of 21,000) and up to £600 spending money.
Alongside Green, there would be the usual hostesses, Monica Rose who had appeared on Double Your Money with Green was the most prominent but Katya Wyeth, Jenny Oliver and Audrey Graham were also regulars for the first couple of seasons. For season four the hostesses were Beverley Stevens and Anna McGoldrick.
The final episode, broadcast Friday 5 July 1974, pulled out all the stopped and actually took place in Jamaica with £4000 up for grabs.
Answers to the questions were verified by Encyclopaedia Britannica.
