Switch (CBS 1975-1978, Eddie Albert, Robert Wagner)
Switch was something of a typical Glen A. Larson series about ex-cop Frank McBride and con-man Pete Ryan teaming up to start a private detective agency.
Like a reverse Hustle most of their cases involve running cons on the bad guys in order to trick them into surrendering or revealing the whereabouts of the stolen loot, jewels, etc. Maggie was their cute receptionist, and wacky restaurateur Malcolm, whose mastery of disguise often came in handy in helping MacBride and Ryan on their cases, provided the comic relief.
The cast was excellent too, apart from the two leads, Sharon Gless played Maggie and Jaclyn Smith popped up early on as the gorgeous Ali McGinnis, who worked with the team on three occasions before moving on to Charlie’s Angels. Incidentally Gless plays a character called Maggie Philbin which is the real life name of a popular 1980’s UK TV presenter.
