Target: Roadrunner (BBC-1 4 Nov 1977, with Luan Peters)

In Roadrunner Hackett and Bonney are on the trail of a gang of young women who are targetting truck drivers to then rob them, however a hit and run leads them into far murkier waters as they uncover a racket at a factor. Hackett goes undercover as a driver but finding out the ringleaders is harder than he anticipated.

Philip Madoc as Tate actually gets a chance to shine in this episode, getting out into the field for once but the episode is all Hackett really, whether he is getting duffed up or trying it on with the ladies. Luan Peters provides the glamour in this episode as the secretary with not quite a heart of gold and Glynn Edwards pops up as a copper from the met who puts Bonney right in his place with a casual “alright Son” and definitely isn’t happy about the way Hackett is doing things.
