Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? (ITV 1980, Francesca Annis, James Warwick)

Published

on

Period crime drama Why Didn’t They Ask Evans? saw a pair of wealthy 1930’s socialites turn amateur tec to solve a murder. Francesca Annis and James Warwick later teamed up again to star in successful ITV Agatha Christie series called Partners In Crime. Also Joan Hickson who has a small role here would spend the latter part of the decade as the quintessential version of Miss Marple in the BBC’s sumptuous adaptations.

Interestingly this all star mystery was filmed as a three part serial but ended up up being transmitted as a three hour epic.
