No Series For This Is Jinsy
One can’t help but wonder sometimes at where the heads of the BBC commissioning editors are actually at, all too seldom these days are we given the chance to watch something truly funny and original and then when something special does come along it’s very quickly consigned to the back waters of BBC3 and a late night slot. Such has been the fate of the excellent This Is Jinsy which the Beeb have this week confirmed will not go to a series.
Written by and starring Justin Chubb and Chris Bran, This Is Jinsy takes us into the world of the 762 inhabitants of a remote island where everyone is watched over by “The Great He” and Tesselator Viewing Machines keep a watch on the chalets that everyone lives in. Impossible to accurately describe Jinsy is part Spike Milligan, part Jasper Fforde and definitely touched by genius.
It will be interesting to see how many of the current crop of single comedies that are popping up on BBC3 make it to a full series, the lack of any more episodes of Jinsy is definitely our loss, in the meantime though be sure to visit Jinsy via their interweb based viewing system at thisisjinsy.com and also join their Facebook fan page.
Clearly Chubb and Bran have a unique view of the world around them so it is going to be more than interesting to see what they come up with next.
