Crime of Passion (ITV 1970-1973, John Phillips)

Published

on

Crime of Passion was an anthology series telling stories from the French courts where the defence of “crime of passion” can be used legitimately. Every episode opened with the build up to what led to the crime and the crime itself before moving into the courts for the trial itself.

Despite the anthology nature there were a few constants amongst the court room staff with Maitre Lacan acting for the prosecution and Maitre Saval for the defence.

Maitre Dubois was also a regular in the last batch of episodes and the president of the court was also a regular fixture. Lots of familiar faces, (including Felicity Kendal, Tessa Wyatt, Ralph Bates, Gemma Jones, Ann Bell, Peter Barkworth, Michael Kitchen, Deborah Watling, Martin Jarvis, Clive Francis, Rosemary Leach and Alfred Burke to name just a few) pop up throughout the show’s run of episodes.
