What is this episode about
Payton Leutner, who was stabbed 19 times by two friends when she was 12 and left for dead in the woods near Waukesha, Wisconsin, speaks out in this episode of “20/20” about the horrific attack. Geyser and Weier, who were both preteens at the time, said they plotted Payton’s murder to impress the Slender Man, a mysterious fictional character. Payton talks to “20/20” host David Muir about that terrible day, her long road to recovery, and her current life.
The two-hour “20/20” features interviews with Joe and Stacie Leutner, Payton’s parents; Waukesha Police Detectives Tom Casey and Michelle Trussoni, who interviewed the suspects during the investigation; Shelly Fisher, who interviewed Payton at the hospital; Dan Klein, the first officer on the scene that day of the attack; Waukesha County Assistant District Attorney Kevin Osborne, who prosecuted the case; Morgan’s attorney Anthony Cotton.
“20/20” will also feature Muir’s interviews with Morgan’s mother, Angie Geyser, and Anissa’s mother, Kristi Weier, as well as the shocking police interviews with Morgan and Anissa about their crimes.
