What can we expect from this episode

Strictly Come Dancing and DIY SOS team up for a special episode to renovate a performing arts school in Wallsend, North Tyneside. Nick Knowles and his crew renovate a rundown old boys’ club into True Colours, a charity that welcomes kids and young adults of all abilities and gives them a place to express themselves creatively.

Strictly experts have been brought in by judge Anton Du Beke to make sure the new dance studio has everything it needs and more. The Strictly Come Dancing cast of Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Graziano Di Prima, and Nancy Xu are taking a break from the dance floor to spend time with the True Colours cast.

It’s going to be a major challenge to finish the construction in just six days. Dark and dingy, the abandoned sports centre has a concrete yard covered in graffiti. It has to be made available to the charity’s 200 members and is split over two floors.

Hundreds of community members pitch in to build a beautiful sensory room for those struggling with anxiety, as well as breakout spaces for children and their families to rest and recharge. This is made possible thanks to a donated platform lift. The exterior, which used to look like a parking lot, is given new life with glittering paved paths and fragrant plants and flowers. Katya proudly switches on the glitter ball to complete the massive glow-up of the main performance space, which also features new flooring, an accessible stage, and the like. The nonprofit puts on a special show for the volunteers as a way of saying “thank you.”

Nick Knowles and the team issue a call to arms and recruit friends, family and local trades to help transform the homes of families across Britain.
