Fresh Cops: Episode 3 (S1EP3 Sunday 25 September 2022)

All of our young officers on Fresh Cops are beginning to make their mark in episode three.

Adam Ahmed, a 27-year-old new sergeant, is eager to instil in his PC team the value of proactive policing and teamwork. He stops a car that is behaving suspiciously in a high-burglary area while working with one of his younger officers. He notices the passenger is wearing gloves, which triggers his “spidey senses.” A second search of the vehicle reveals a knife and rucksack with torches inside. In the end, it’s insufficient to accuse the residents of “going equipped” for a robbery, but Adam is always happy to remove a knife from the streets.

Adam must pay a double “cake fine” at the station for twice kerbing the police car and deflating its tyres. Later, he receives a call regarding a man who violated the terms of his bail by entering the family home. Adam enters the building and finds the man has fled after jumping out of the window. Adam’s group shows up promptly to offer assistance. They search the area until they locate the man, after which they remove him.

25 years old PC Jake Bull has always been open about his love of blue light action, but he has just learned that his position has changed from one of response to one of investigation. He will have to say goodbye to his response “family,” which includes his friend Calum and retired police officer Andy Dyson, and trade in his uniform for a suit and tie and what he views as a desk job. On his final Friday night shift, he finds himself dealing with a report of an assault in the town centre, where he nearly gets headbutted.

Jake begins to think about what he might gain from taking part in investigations after his Sergeant invites him back to the station for a chat. Jason Game, a Fresh Cop who has been on the force for 13 months and is 24 years old, is introduced to us. The two of them are summoned to a report of attempted blackmail. A woman claimed to be underage and threatened to inform the police after sending photos to a man via a dating app. The man is able to be reassured that it is a scam by Jason and his colleague. Jason talks with the man for a while about his mental health and shares his own experience of being placed in care when he was a young child.

When called to a woman who has been threatened by two men who threaten to break her windows if she doesn’t give them money, PC Khadeejah Mansur also reveals her compassionate side. Although the case is still pending, Khadeejah offers the woman some guidance and comfort in exchange for a hug.

With exclusive access to Leicestershire police, the series will ride shotgun with some of the force’s youngest officers as they learn the ropes on the frontline of crime. The series is filmed from their perspective, takes viewers into the heart of the action and will reveal the young people behind the uniforms.
