What can we expect from this episode

Master of masterclasses and makeup artist for the Kardashians Hrush Achemyan is one of the judges, and she has high standards for the finalists.

This is it; the culmination of eight arduous weeks of work. As a huge twist, the judges have decided that the last four MUAs will have to perform a creative brief in front of a panel of industry experts at Harvey Nichols as their final industry assignment.

The creative brief will be the final straw for the MUA who fails to wow the client.

Having your prosthetic crown so close to your natural one puts a lot of stress on even the most experienced prosthetic MUA. As each MUA presents their “last look,” the tension in the studio rises. This look is meant to both represent them as an artist and convince the judges that they should advance to the final masterclass. A dream inspires one MUA’s design, while another MUA stuns with a light-up effect. One invokes a creature from Celtic mythology, while another imagines an alien living in the ocean.

After the judging, one MUA is eliminated from the competition, despite being just one step away from the ultimate industry assignment.

The remaining MUAs then have to get ready for their final masterclass at Harvey Nichols, one of the most prestigious department stores in the world.

The masterclass attendees are a veritable who’s who of the beauty industry, including Millie Kendall OBE of the British Beauty Council, Lizzie Yianni-Georgiou, a hair and make-up designer for Marvel films and television, pop stars like Faye Tozer, and fashion brands like Asos. Three finalist MUAs wait anxiously to take centre stage as industry heavyweights crowd in to witness their skills.

These finalists are going all out to make their masterclass unforgettable, from reimagining conventional beauty techniques like contouring to incorporating pop culture references like Frozen-inspired prosthetics and brightly coloured eyeliner.

One MUA shows signs of nervousness and stutters, another’s prosthetics don’t go as planned, and the final MUA impresses with self-assurance and humour.

The judges will have the unenviable task of picking a winner after reviewing the MUAs’ portfolios. The viewers of Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star can’t wait to find out who takes home the crown.
